Here are a number of images from a store in Namba, Osaka. These are fine crafted goods and had a price to match. I was very lucky to hear about this gallery display of fine rat art from someone working close to the exhibits.

Unfortunately the quality of the picture above isn't so great. These miniature figures were delightful.

The above rat looks like it has been doggified to some degree.

I saved the 'best' to last. I got told off by one of the exhibitors for taking pictures but managed to get the images I wanted. It was truly a once in twelve year opportunity and I was eager to capture as much beauty as possible.

The above carving is marked up at 630,000 yen (approx US$5600 as of 12/31/2007)

This carving above also had a similar price and displayed exquisite detail and technical brilliance.

These carvings have been painted and were marked up at 336,000 yen each. (approx US$3000 as of 12/31/2007)

I didn't notice the price for this one as I was too caught up in the moment. This rat is feasting on pumpkin seeds and its behaviour and anatomy is the most life like I caught over the past few days of searching. What a great exploration.
