Charity As with all domestic animals, pet rats require constant care to ensure their physical and behavioural needs are being properly met. When this fundamental responsibility is not being provided, it is to the caring members within the community we often look to pick up the pieces. Numerous pet rat charities and organisations have been founded to tackle the issues surrounding pet rat care by providing their energy and resources in the form of education, a voice, and direct support. Please take the time to visit the following charities and organisations as they are worthy of our attention and support. CavyRescue (UK registered charity no: 1111583). The aim of our charity is not only to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome small animals, but to educate individuals and organisations on small animal healthcare and welfare and we regularly run successful campaigns to this effect. Kim's Ark rescues unwanted rats (sometimes mice and other small animals, as well) and provides them with vet care and a loving foster home. The rats are socialized with both people and other rats, getting them ready for their new homes and their new lives as pampered pets! (US) EGPRR are a south–Essex based registered charity concerned with the care of Guinea Pigs and pet Rats. (UK) Dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of domestic pet rats and other small animals in the greater San Francisco bay area of Northern California (San Jose to Sacramento). (US) Capital City Rat Rescue was started in the summer of 2006 as I found there to be a desperate need for a place where surrendered rats could stay temporarily until they found new homes. (US) |
